FRACK, FFOS FUNDRAISING & FROLICS : Welcome to the latest Rising Tide Newsletter:-
1) STOP FRACKING IN THE SOUTH-EAST :- LEITH HILL CAMP ; SOLIDARITY WEEKEND & GIG
21st & 22nd OCTOBER, Saturday & Sunday

Our friends at the camp will need support from London and South East activists! Please come and visit to see the area and find out more about what's happening at the solidarity weekend on 21st & 22nd October, with music from Phat Bollard & (hopefully) Mobius Loop, plus community & activist workshops including: know your rights, dealing with courts, compost toilets, climbing, and more! There are regular trains to Dorking and the camp can normally provide transport from the station (see links).

The South East is under threat from a new wave of unconventional oil extraction. Near Dorking, in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a consortium of companies are preparing to drill for oil on Leith Hill, a beautiful woodland area which is accessed via a steep sunken lane. The Leith Hill Protection Camp was set up to protect the land and began life on the intended drill site. It was evicted over a 2 day operation in June but has moved over the road ready for the next phase. If the oil company's 'traffic management plan' is passed on 18th October, lorries could start coming up the lane pretty soon.

2) END COAL NOW :- FFOS-Y-FRAN CANARY ACTION BRIGHTON FUNDRAISER GIG
24th October, Tuesday9pm-2am, Volks Nightclub, Brighton Benefit gig
In April this year a group of people from Earth First!/Reclaim the Power/Rising Tide UK took action against the largest opencast coal mine in the UK. In a very successful action the site was unable to operate for a day. The court case didn't go so well and now they need help in paying a compensation order of £10,000! There are two easy ways you can help. a) contribute or share the crowd funder; and b) come to the gig and dance; to help raise the £10,000 compensation order they were sentenced to pay by the court. We will not stop climate change by continuing to burn dirty coal. We need to shut shit down and keep it in the ground.
To get a ticket, please pay £4 (or more) via the fundraiser page
Saturday . 28th October, Saturday, 10am to 7pm.
